Upcoming Appearances:


Sohrab will be an artist in residence at the legendary artists' community of Yaddo (see pics & links on Blog page), in Saratoga Springs, New York, between June 26 and July 23, 2007. He has been invited there to work on his novel-in-progress, A Man of the World.

Sohrab will present the 2007 Page Edwards Short Fiction Award, as final judge of the nationwide contest, during the Saturday luncheon at the Florida First Coast Writers' Festival, held annually in Jacksonville. Downtown Library Conference Center, Saturday March 10 2007. The winning story, "The Sin in the Cemetery" by Rick Maloy, will be published online by fiction e-zine Writecorner Press at www.writecorner.com . The 2006 winner, "Through Mist" by Connie Davies, and the 2005 winner, "How to Draw a Circle" by Kim Bradley, have been published in Kalliope, the nationally reputed by-women-for-women literary magazine.

Sohrab will conduct two short-fiction workshops at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Jacksonville. Monday March 12 2007, 1:00-2:00 & 2:00 to 3:00.

Sohrab will read from Ticket to Minto in India, at the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai. The reading is one of NCPA's monthly interactive arts forum Chauraha events, free and open to the public. 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Audio Visual Room, NCPA, Mumbai, India.

Sohrab and literary magazine editor Howard Denson will conduct a workshop, "How to Self-Edit Like a Pro," at the Book Island Festival, Amelia Island, from 3:00 to 3:50 on Friday, October 6, 2006. Sohrab will also read from Ticket to Minto at the festival's Quick Author Reads program, from 12:10 to 12:30 on Saturday, Oct 7, and will sign copies at the Book Marketplace from 10:30 to 12:00 and from 3:00 to 4:30.

Sohrab will give tips on writing short fiction to members of the Florida Writers Association at the Ponte Vedra Beach Library, open to the public, at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006.

At one of the RED (Read, Enjoy, Discuss!) bookclub's meetings in St. Augustine, Florida, they plan to discuss Ticket to Minto, and will be joined by Sohrab for a Q&A. 6:30 Wednesday March 29 2006. Contact number: (904) 829-6024.

Sohrab will be an artist in residence at the Seaside Institute in Seaside, Florida, famous for being the location of the Jim Carrey movie, "The Truman Show." He (Sohrab, not Jim) will work on his novel as part of the Escape to Create program, along with eight other Escapees (3 writers, 2 songwriters/composers, 4 visual artists), during the month of January 2006. He will sign copies of his award-winning book of stories, Ticket to Minto, along with authors Loretta Cobb and Lee Reilly, from 1:00 to 3:00 at The Sundog bookstore on Saturday, January 14. He will read "Keeping Time," about an aging piano teacher in Bombay and her reluctant young student, for the Seaside community at The Lyceum, Seaside Institute, 7:00 Saturday Jan 14, in a co-appearance with Mary Bue, the critically acclaimed singer/pianist from Minnesota. And he has been urged by writer friends to keep a blog leading up to and during the residency...so check out the entries on the Blog page of this web site!
